HOLIDAY_ANNIVERSARY_INSTA.jpg

Headmaster officially launched in December 2010. It's been a bizarre and depressing year, but we weren't going to let it go by without celebrating our 10th anniversary!

Join us for a Zoom holiday/anniversary party! Like all good holiday/anniversary parties there will be lots of exciting guest stars, including some Headmaster alumni. You can expect a reading from Ben Kline and tarot readings with Emmy Bright, plus lots of other surprise guests. We're also screening some vintage films from Bob Mizer (courtesy of the Bob Mizer Foundation).

General Admission tickets are $10. If you'd like to see your name thanked in the next issue, there's also a $50 level. But it's a pandemic and times are hard for a lot of people! So if you can't afford the general admission price, just come by for free.

SPECIAL GUESTS!

7 Minutes in Heaven with Emmy Bright & More Stupids

HM_EMMY_BRIGHT.jpg

Emmy Bright's B-E-A-U-T-F-U-L MORE STUPIDS is a book and deck that commingles autobiography, critical theory, diagrams and dumb jokes. You may use the set in many ways. None are correct. You’ll have the opportunity to get your own reading from Emmy, but you’ll want to ORDER YOUR OWN MORE STUPIDS FROM 3 HOLE PRESS

"A queer post-modern tarot-esque deck that serves up hilarious and sensual fodder for foresight and insight that comes from the often overlooked encounters in life. Visual wordplay lays bare a paranoid awareness of how impossibly exposed we are, yet makes clear that, in this, we are not alone." — Paula Wilson

Ben Kline Reading: Sagittarius A*

HM_BEN_KLINE.jpg

Taking its name from an astronomical radio source (and likely supermassive black hole) at the center of our Milky Way galaxy, Ben Kline’s Sagittarius A* contains poems that interpolate wonder and living with interstellar phenomena and theories in astrophysics. Pondering the body, the self, spaceships and wormholes, Kline’s work reminds us that the stars can show us a path to understanding ourselves. Like beams of light illuminating darkness, where we know something moves, these poems ask: What is that? ORDER NOW FROM SIBLING RIVALRY PRESS

“Sagittarius A* works as a satellite bouncing us through time and space and filtering personal experiences through scientific and technological language and form. This collection makes us question memory and truth, asking the all-too-human question ‘Why did I circle back into this moment?’” —Stephen S. Mills, author of Not Everything Thrown Starts a Revolution

The Bob Mizer Foundation, a leader in physique culture education, engages 25,000 followers annually and promotes human rights, social justice and civil rights awareness through education and commemoration of the photography of the mid 20th century.

Through our archives, collections, and programs, our education assists students and visitors in developing an understanding of the causes, signs and consequences of censorship, racism, and stereotyping in any society.

Physique Pictorial introduced the world to such fantastic photographers such as Bruce of Los Angeles, Lon of London and Champion Studios, models such as John Apache, Jim Paris, and Tico Patterson, and artists such as Tom of Finland, Etienne and George Quaintance. Special Performance: House of Rice

TheArray_House_of_Rice_2.jpg

Vancouver’s House of Rice, an all-Asian drag family.

House Mother Shay Dior defines their drag as a "big spicy hotpot" with three equal parts: cultural representation and fashion, the dismantling of gender stereotypes and politics...and oversexualized video game and anime villains.

Shay also founded Ricecake, the Vancouver’s only queer Asian party. It's open to everyone but celebrates queer Asian talent by showcasing DJs, performers and gogo dancers, both local and international.
